All about pink eye

Pink eye is an inflammation of the covering of the eyeball and inside the eye lid (conjunctiva). This inflammation may lead to redness, tearing, discharge, itching and pain. The pink is also called conjunctivitis

Causes:

Bacteria

Virus

Allergic reaction

Chemical irritation


Symptoms:

Mild redness

Discharge

Itching

Foreign body sensation


Treatment:

Wash your hands every time you touch around the eye

Keep your own towels, washcloths and pillows separate from others

Do not touch your infected eye with your fingers

Don’t wear contact lenses or eye makeup

Put a warm compress and use artificial tears

Don’t put patch over your eye

Use antibiotic eye drops prescribed by an eye care professional
