About the Association

With the help of God Almighty, Saudi Association of Optometry was founded in 12-04-1428, a scientific society in the field of optometry and vision science. The Saudi Association of Optometry is under the umbrella of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (Resolution No. 8/A/28). Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, may Allah protect and save us for the country and its residents. The SAO has the vision of promoting the delivery of quality eye and vision care to Saudis through the practice of optometry and in providing continuous education and training services to the eye care professionals.

Message from the President

A message from our President Dr. Yousef Aldebasi

Dear members and fellow optometrists,

Greetings to all. I am the current president and consider myself very fortunate. To the members of this great organization, I thank you for your support. I want to thank each of you for our membership in the association and for your support of organized optometry. If you are not yet a member, I encourage you to seriously consider joining this organization as it is proudly hosting continuing education events on relevant and current advances in clinical care, represent optometrists at community and professional events. Our goal is to build a strong network of accomplished members practicing at their highest levels of ethics and professionalism. We endeavor to provide information about integrating optometric care for patients through our website, email updates, relevant and timely articles, educational opportunities and conferences. The benefits of membership with the SAO are extensive and can make a profoundly positive impact on your career as a Doctor of Optometry. SAO can provide benefits including peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and career support.

As your SAO president, I promise to work hard to provide you with another greater year of education, resources to enrich yourself and your practice. I will make myself available for questions, comments, and ideas so our society can continue to grow and thrive.
